Marion Lévy and Veronique Georgelin designers of Maison Georgette. Maison Georgette is a trendsetting design studio which creates limited edition silk screened home furnishing accessories. We love the bright colors and sweet graphics, now can you less than adore Maison Georgette?

When and why did you start your company and collection?

We met at the Arts Decoratifs in Paris and became fast friends. After having respectively worked as stylists and designers for other people and travelled the world, we reunited in 1999 and decided to take a leap of faith and start our own company, Maison Georgette, dedicated to our passion: modern textiles.

What is your vision for your brand and collection?

We love textiles and prints, and we try to work them in a contemporary way ,looking for simplicity, both rigor and richness :the right balance between geometrics shapes and colors. Having our own silk-screen workshop allows us to experiment directly on fabrics our very personal combinations of material, colors, graphics and develop products in limited editions.

What is your inspiration for the latest collection?

We focused on visual impact with strong and defined patterns and color contrasts. We also kept in mind the end result and the product itself and printed our graphics in a very specific way depending on the product, with white or empty spaces that complement and add to the design.

Sources of inspiration?

We admire Finish and Scandinavian textile design of the 70s 80s and Marimekko in particular. We are also fond of japaneese textile and the art of kimono printing.

Anything new on the horizon for you?

We have been commissioned to design Christmas trees for the anniversary of the Printemps department store in Tokyo which was a very fun project to work on, we are working on a giant textile panel (5 meters x 11) for a trendy bar in Bastille and are planning a Christmas exhibition at the Sentou Galerie in Paris.

Favorite places in Paris
La Bastille of course (this is were our workshop is located), the market of place d’Aligre and the farmer markets in general, Belleville, le parc de la vilette…We also love to wander around the hidden streets of Montmartre or walk on the quais and Ile St Louis.

Favorite designers

Tsé & Tsé Associées (and not only because they’re family – Marion Lévy is the sister of Catherine Lévy), the Bouroulec brothers and also English designers like konstantin Gric, Jasper Morrison, droog design etc.
