Fred Segal Melrose, a Los Angeles Shopping Destination for Trendsetting Brands Coveted by Stars and Their Stylists

Fred Segal is my must see store when vising Los Angeles. Visiting LA and not stopping by for a bit of shopping at Fred Segal is like going to New York and not indulging in a frozen hot chocolate at Serendipity. A destination for trendspotters and trendsetters alike, it is the home of celebrity must-haves and all that is cool and hip about LA. From Melrose you’ll notice the  ivy-covered facade with the iconic vintage blue and red logo. Inside you’ll find a marketplace of mini boutiques selling everything from hard-to-find beauty products, just-launched denim brands, and emerging brands coveted by Hollywood’s trendsetting celebrities and their stylists.

Fred Segal, formerly a clothing salesman created a the first ‘Jeans Bar’ in  his jeans-only store in 1960 at the current  Crescent Boulevard location. Along with it’s success two stores were opened one in Hollywood the other in Santa Monica.  Within the Fred Segal retail umbrella emerged employee-owned boutiques. Today the Melrose store has been rebranded as the flagship store of the Ron Herman group of boutiques (although the ivy embellished logo remains) and the Santa Monica store remains as Fred Segal Santa Monica.

Just as in 1960, today you’ll find brands at Fred Segal you won’t find anywhere else. Today you’ll find brands including 3.1 Phillip Lim, Simone Camille, Rag & Bone, Autumn Cashmere and more.
