Pacific Heights

It's hard to walk down Fillmore Street and not feel pampered--provided you're in the right section of Fillmore, roughly between California Street north to Jackson. You'll know you're there when you see groups of 15-year-old girls in Miu Miu ordering sushi to go, smart couples strolling in and out of boutiques specializing in luxury modern furnishings, and girlfriends exclaiming over Jane Mayle dresses, lime-green silk thongs, and cashmere sweaters with plunging V-necks. Maybe it's the plethora of French-owned businesses, from patisseries to parfumeries, or maybe it's just the sheer beauty of this part of town, where everything--from the stately Victorian homes to the flower shops--is picturesque, but something about Fillmore Street is reminiscent of Montparnasse.
