Now in stores is the new Gucci Spring summer collection. My favorite item is the Gucci Parachute Biker Jacket, made of supple calfskin and threaded interwoven net and knit detailing with zip front. A nice take on the moto trend, a bit softer and more feminine incorporating some interesting details without being too harsh. I love the soft grey shade of leather. Gail Cuff Platform Sandals, a pretty wrap ankle style with a 4″ heel.

As we make the countdown to Valentine’s Day I am inspired by the NYC restaurant, Sweetiepie. If you haven’t heard, Sweetiepie is the charming West Village eaterie created by of Julie Janklow.

As a child I was and still am inspired by fabulous spaces. This is the restaurant of my dreams! I am a fan of pretty, magical, extravagant spaces. Julie who also designed the space was inspired by classic eateries such as Rumpelmeyer’s, Schwab’s Drug Store and the Fountain Coffee Shop at the Beverly Hills Hotel. This whimsical West Village eaterie is frequented by Agyness Deyn, Alexa Chung, and Gwyneth Paltrow. This is not simply an ice cream and dessert shop, Sweetiepie serves Mac & Cheese, sliders, dollar pancakes, and an elegant caviar service. Cocktails are served at the bar and desserts are a specialty, with bite-sized micro cakes, overflowing fruit fooles, and the Sweetiepig, a giant ice cream sundae made for sharing! Yum.

If this Sweetiepie were to inspire an outfit…it must include these Lanvin patent mirrored heeled sandals! It has been storming here in San Francisco, for what seems like months (it’s actually been days – but seems like an eternity!).  Luckily, just at the beginning of our mini El Nino, I received a pair of Sorel Joan Of Arctic boots in black. I was sooo excited to open the box and try them on. I had read so many reviews online about the Joan of Arctics being hard to walk in, too narrow or some girls not being able to tuck their jeans into them. I personally have not had any of these problems. I normally wear a 7-1/2 in a medium width. I also wear a size 8 in my Hunter Wellie boots, and I thought that the Sorel Joan of Arctics might have a similar shape in the boot interior – wide and roomy around the toe and snug at the heel. So I did order the size 8 in the Sorel Joan Of Arctics. and they fit perfectly. I wear them with thick socks and I’ve been wearing them out and about and they are comfy to walk in on city streets. There is a large neoprene like fabric tongue inside the laces at the front of the boot, there was no issue tucking in my skinny jeans or leggings. I suppose if you are still wearing totally unflattering ’80s saggy baggy jeans you’d have an issue w/tucking in. I’ve even worn them driving and I didn’t have a problem with them being too chunky to push the gas pedal.  I’ll be very excited when I get a chance to wear them in the snow. If you need a pair of boots for a last minute trip to Sundance, these are it!

I’ve been wearing these snow-ready puppies with my J Brand Jeggings every chance I get. I love love love how they look. Totally fun and wintery fabulous! Top off your Joan of Arctics and J Brand jeggings with a long-ish loose fitting sweater like this Elizabeth and James Double Layer cardigan which is just long enough to cover your bum (or not!). Top off the look with a Burberry Checked silk and cashmere-blend scarf. Loop the scarf like I do by folding it in half and then putting it around the back of your neck and pulling the two loose ends inside the folded end. Pull to fit snuggly around your neck. Et voila, instant scarf chic!

Winter boots can send me into a total conundrum, sometimes I just want a comfy pair of warm boots when I’m in a chilled out mood and don’t have the energy for wearing my4-inch Marc Jacobs boots. These Australia Luxe Collective Dita tall sheepskin boots are fantastic with a pair of Alexander Wang Digital Ottoman ribbed leggings and an indulgent Pringle 1815 Wool batwing turtle neck. I love the shape of this sweater for a laid back luxe look. Top it off with a Rick Owens Blister leather biker jacket and Bird by Juicy Couture Cashmere crochet scarf. Try to avoid wearing shearling on top if you are wearing these, you won’t want to look like a walking ball of fluff. Anyway, I can’t wait to wear my warm shearling boots during holiday shopping. When you’re an endurance shopper like me, flat boots are a godsend. They’re also waterproof and snow proof. So they are perfect for trips to Tahoe or maybe even Val d’isère.

Christian Louboutin has brought Barbie (yes Barbie!) into his inner circle as his latest muse. The fabulousa footwear designer is launching a line of luxe limited edition dolls just in time for Christmas ‘09. The Barbie collector’s set will include a black hooded jumsuit clad Barbie in what looks very reminiscent of Eartha Kitt as Catwoman in Batman. Catwoman Barbie will be accessorized with four pair of statement making red soled Loubutins. This set is the first in the set of three and comes with a collectable agenda outlining the chic duo’s fashion filled adventures.

Today was a stormy and blustery day in Northern California, high winds, rain…and lots of it. Luckily I was out all day and my daughter was at school. When we arrived home I found our ginormous curly willow toppled over. Luckily there was no damage to the house and nobody was home at the time. But it did uproot our deck’s foundation. Whew, I will be sad to see the beautiful tree go when the workers remove it tomorrow. It sat right outside my kitchen window and was a gorgeous part of the view.

Although today we had a some excitement with the toppling of our tree, I will still look forward to the rainy season when I can splash thru puddles in my Hunter Wellie boots!  I will don my Hunter Wellie Boots even on overcast and cloudy days with a down vest and skinny jeans. Luckily I wore them today during the torrential downpours as they keep my feet warm and dry. The classic boot made in England is now a fashion staple worn by celebs including Kate Moss who began the trend at the Glastonbury Music Fesival. Now there are designer styled Hunter Wellies including these by Jimmy Choo. Love it!
