When in Rome Wear Superga Sneakers

My rule of thumb when traveling is to wear what the locals wear. In Paris it’s Repettos, A.P.C.,  and a Le Pliage tote.  In Tokyo just about anything goes as long as it’s designer and mismatched and it’s from my fave spot, Aloha Rag in Honolulu. In Rome Superga sneakers are as de rigueur as Vespa scooters.

Superga was launched in 1911 in Torino Italy. by a man named Walter Martiny who began producing the rubber soled sneakers marked with the Superga logo. After the war the Italian footwear brand began making a high quality product and continued to add more features to improve the product. Still the 2750 Superga linen sneaker is a classic and worn by Italians throughout the summer, to the beach, on picnics, and country weekends. And be sure not to wear socks, wear your Supergas ’scalze’ without socks!!
